            Reibert,

Yes similar helmets were worn in the Bundeswehr. They were only used for trials when the BW was trying to decide what type of para helmet they would adopt. Some were painted blue with a smooth surface while others were subsequently painted khaki with a rough sand finish. That is where GSG 9 got their design for this helmet. There has always been controversy as to whether BW helmets were marked BUND or not. The BUND markings are usually attributed to police items and would make sense for a GSG 9 helmet. The use of an NSN is also logical. Yours appears to be unissued which is nice. I've never seen markings like this in one of these helmets. Most GSG 9 items are marked as such. This helmet appears to be identical to BW helmets of this type I have in my collection except for the chin cup.

            Regards,

            Gordon

So, it´s, ("only"), an, "ordinary", GSG9/SEK -helmet ...

Anyway, I like this pot and I hope, I´ll receive it soon !

              Thx, and, Cheers,
              R.

              BTW.:
The "old", ("former"), stamp was whited-out and hallmarked with another stamping.
              Did you recognise ?

Yup, standard (and beautiful condition!) BGS GSG-9 type helmet. BUND shows up on many BGS, Polizei, and disaster response items (THW, ZB, ZS, etc.). There's also some oddball items out there, such as base security or other items. BUND should not be on anything acquired by the Bundeswehr.

Primary differences between a GSG-9 helmet and one of similar M38 type Bundeswehr helmets from the 1950s:

                1. Green, not gray
                2. Rough texture (usually), not smooth
                3. Green leather straps with chincup, not gray leather without chincup
                4. Flathead liner screws on surface, not recessed screws with two small and one large hole
                5. Standard BW style leather liner with pads, not WW2 type leather liner with large vent holes

The chincup is the most obvious difference, though of course sometimes the cups are missing and so it's only relevant if it is seen.

                Steve

                    Datenblatt

The Datenblatt, (spec sheet), of the helmet.

Maker should be Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke AG, Schwerte/Ruhr ?

Doesn't look legit to me. Liner should have two large holes along the liner both front and rear. The edge isn't crimped with a reinforcement strip of metal. This is probably an artificially aged Chinese import.
