These are no "real" Y-Straps, they're called "Tragehilfe" so only as an addition to support a Belt and not like the Y's where you can put on a Pack and all this Stuff.

When I served in the Bundeswehr 1990-91 we also had this "Tragehilfe" - we hated it, very often the aluminium hooks broke and the whole thing did not really make sense.
I got me an old Y-straps from an army shop instead - the one with all the D-rings and clips...
Fortunately my commander didn't mind...

Have recently acquired interesting variation of BGS y-straps, that was new to me: 1st Model converted (or recycle older parts) to 2nd Model, probably around 1957/58. The old hooks were removed and replaced with clips. The 1st Model has no cross pieces on the end, which make this easier. The flap on rear strap is also more elongate oval shape than 2nd Model.
Stamped "Franz Brehme, Walsrode 1954" like my 1st Model set, but without Bundesadler below. Someone stamped fake Reichsadler though. Any tips to remove this (I know, that it will damage, but look better without the "bird")?
Has unit stamp on rear strap "12./GSG 1" (12. Hundertschaft of Grenzschutzgruppe 1). First time to see unit marking on y-straps.
On underside of rear flap is also stamped number "81" (some type factory code) and owner's name GEHR.
Regards
Klaus
