I've seen Zoll trousers many times (a long time ago) crossing from France into Germany and vice versa. Have no idea now what they looked like but the guys at the border certainly wore a hat like you posted (now in my collection).
I can add a woman's hat probably from the same era?

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the info! You have reminded me that I have a hat like the one you just posted, but for winter (fake fur flaps). It's probably with my THW hat and about a dozen other wool M43s I can't find right now. Hopefully I'll be able to locate it soon. It's not like it got up and walked away

Gentlemen,

Some more Zoll visor caps. These are often listed for sale as BGS but they are not. I am not sure of the time frame that they were worn in. If anyone has this information please share it.

This next cap is almost identical to the above cap. Differences are a slightly different colour of green pipping around the top and black chin strap buttons instead of silver.

The third cap is probably from a later date than the first two, although it is from the same time frame, because of shape, construction etc. It has an embroidered cap badge. This cap badge sits flat aginst the cap body where as the previous two embroidered cap badges were padded behind so that they stood out from the cap body.

#8 Ignore the BGS printed on the sweatshield insert. Thyat was put there by the chap that sold it to me but is incorrect.

Beautiful caps! I am feeling the need to get one, even though I lack the trousers.

BTW, I saw the M43 field cap the other day on German eBay. Someone sniped me at the last minute and walked away with it. Condition was so-so and there was no badging on the front (not sure if it was supposed to). Price was pretty high compared to complete and better condition pre-1978 Polizei M43s, so my guess is they are pretty rare.

I passed on a Zoll M43 style a couple of months ago because it was one of three caps in the auction and I already had the other two. Perhaps I should have bought it!
