Is the cap body grey or green? If it is green I have a very similar cap from the NRW Justiz.

As Gordon already mentioned, identifying these caps is often quite difficult when there is no badging. Heck, sometimes it is difficult even with the badging

The chin braid makes me think of Forst, but the piping color is not dark enough for that (I think). Justiz of some sort is perhaps a possibility.

Some comments about Justiz orgaizations in the BRD.
Not all states had a Justiz organization. Some of the different tasks carried out by Justiz people were;
1-Security at court houses;
2-Escorting prisoners from jails to the court house and back to the jails;
3-Guards at jails;
4-Couriers for court/legal documents.
Those that did often tasked their organizations with different responsibilities. Some dressed their Justiz people the same as police but most did not so most Justiz uniforms will be of a different colour than the state police ones. I've seen them in brown and grey. They are often slightly different than police uniforms. Some things that point to your cap being Justiz;
1-Black cap band-police cap bands are usually brown;
2-coloured cap cord-police cap cords (from this time period) are usually silver for this shape for officers or flat black for enlisted men.
Now on to pictures of my cap. I should mention that I was recently sent pictures of a medium grey tunic advertised as NRW Justiz one. It had the NRW crest on the left arm. Also, during some periods Justiz crests had the word "JUSTIZ" above the state crest on the arm badges.

The NRW Justiz caps, that I had seen before had crest on lower part. These are probably later (one was current style). Found cap today, that is identical with the flecked cord. Gordon's cap with striped is for Justizmeister. So flecked could be Justizwachtmeister (have seen other organizations with such cords, but forget at moment which). Normally Wachtmeister have the strap, but Justiz have different regulations and could have cord.

Unfortunately from ended ebay auction, so only thumbnail image was available.

you mean, that police have normally green cap bands and not brown, or? I think, that the NRW tunic from the photos match cap, but lighting give false impression. It appear slightly green.

Thanks for picking up my incorrect comment on the cap band colours. My mind must have been stuck in TR police cap band colour. They are, as you say, green in the majority of cases.

Hello Gents,

The below picture has just about something for everyone; Polizei, Cold War, gear freaks, small unit tactics, you name it.

I myself am much enamored to the immediate post-war era, aka "World War Two and a Half," a very intriguing time that is begging for an in-depth study.

Thusly, this picture is a pure joy for me as it contains so many elements of the subjects that interest me most.

Please note the wear of the Shako in a very tactical setting, the Kar98ks, the cook pot on bread bag configuration, and the zeltbahn patterns, not to mention the uniforms of the gents rowing the assault boat. "I fully realize we are conducting a tactical river crossing Herr Wachtmeister, now please straighten that neck tie....". Great stuff!

In any event, enjoy, and please tell me what interests you most. Caption in next post.

Kees, I hope this posting spurs some more discussion on your lovely Shako and on what occasions they were worn and by whom.

Is anyone able to pick out any "BeeGees"? Perhaps they are patrolling in the boat just outside the frame, or waiting for the Hamburg Alert Police on shore?
