Too funny And I bet several people have told the seller it is a post-war "fake", but he keeps trying to sell it as original because he doesn't want to lose the money he invested into it. If this was a real item $700+ is a possible price (I think still too high), but as a post war Berlin tunic it is worth maybe $100 to an advanced collector. $50 on eBay.

About the jacket I sold to Klaus. It's good to know what it is (Polizei not Zoll). Maybe I would have kept it if I knew, but maybe not! I have too much Polizei stuff already.

      Gentlemen,

Time to move on with more early polizei uniforms. Thanks to Klaus I have some great pictures to post. All of these uniforms were recently sold by hte World Police Museum in Milan, Italy. They went for very reasonable prices considering what they are.
First up Bavarian Beeitschaft Polizeidirektor. I would to have added all of these uniforms to my collection but this one in particular!

#3 is Polizeimeister from the Stadtpolizei Nuremberg. Listed in the auction as worn from 1945 until 1954. I am not sure about these dates though. Possibly from 1947 until 1965? Lots of chance for research in these photos!

Polizeimeister from Stadtpolizei Badreichenhall. This is an excellent example of a city police officer in the American zone of occupation.

And the last one was listed as Stadtpolizei Koln worn from 1945 until 1954. No identifying badges on this uniform to confirm where it was from or the dates it was worn. Completely different rank structure so again, lots of room for research here.

                          Regards,

                          Gordon

Oops! Almost missed this one from Stadtpolizei Munich. I can confirm this one because I have have a visor cap like this in my collection. Rank should be Oberinspektor.

As I commented to Gordon, the auction listing has this wrong - it is from the Stadtpolizei in Frankfurt a.M. A couple of largest cities in Hessen had their own police until at least 1960s. Unfortunately have no information about female members of Stadtpolizei. Of all German states, I know only, that West-Berlin experimented with female auxiliaries in early years and later abandoned it.

This appear to be the early blue NRW Landespolizei uniform with rank of Polizeimeister. Cap misses only the police star (no Kokarde at this time), no sleeve patch worn. NRW had no Stadtpolizeien, that I know. The better known green uniform with similar cut was not adopted until mid-1950s.

                                Regards
