A closeup of the cuffbands. They are machine sewn into place. They are of the cotton thread type.

The tunic turned inside out. The shoulder pads seem to be there to give the shoulders some frim shape and to cover the ends of the T-shaped shoulderboards. I have not removed the shoulderboards.

A side view of the tunic inside out. There are three metal grommets in the armpits for ventilation.

There were two hats that came with this tunic and they match the tunic time frame well enough that I beleive they belonged to the same person as the tunic did. They show considerable wear on the inside consistant with long time use and age. First I'll post the pictures of the peaked cap.

A close up of the heavy embroidery on the peak of the cap. Notice the wear metallic thread surface.

A picture of the leather sweat band. The "white" sections are for the piece of tape that allows for small adjustments to fit the wearer better. This also shows the date stamped onto the interior of the sweat band. 21 Jan. 1964. There is another number stamped on the interior of the sweat band which I can not make out.

The other cap that accompanied this tunc was a wedge cap. Interestingly enough was the fact that it was sewn together at the top to hold the two sides together for a better look. Something that I did with the same type of cap but in a different air force.

An interior view. The leather sweat band in this cap shows considerable deterioration. I could not find any dates inside this cap. Also of interest is that it is marked "Perkuro".

Nice Luftwaffe uniforms Gordon! Great finds

There are several photos on this thread of Affenjacken in wear in late 1958. I thought the current style tunics (not insignia) were introduced in 1958. Maybe speedytop can clarify this.

                                regards,
                                Klaus
