I can’t say I’ve ever owned or seen anything like this before!
The cribbage board has a dedication to Major William ‘Dickie’ Hammerton, MBE, who was an REME (22nd Armoured Brigade Workshop) as part of the 7th Armoured Division (Desert Rats). He was KIA on February 8th, 1945, and is buried in the Sittard War Cemetery in Limburg, Netherlands. That’s about as much information as I’ve been able to find about him.
I would love to find out more - such as how he might have died/ what action his death would have been a part of. Also, has anyone seen a dedicated game board like this before?
Cheers,
Finn
