Looking for some info on this compass, is it a MK viii, as when I search for them they don't have bars on the glass like this one. But everything else seems to indicate a MK viii.

Possibly, ww2 examples mkiii to be precise often have similar bars on the glass. Plus this one has no lanyard ring which it probably started life with.Comment

In fact it lacks any official broad arrow of issue. So is probably private purchase, glass guard may have been an optional extra.Comment
