"officers" model f-s commando dagger

yes i know theres no such knife as an officers version but collectors still refer to this model as such
my question is does anyone else have one with this flat sided top nut?
its original to the knife and is nickel plated
scabbard is the correct style but should have a nickel plated chape

The typical clamp-vice marks are not present, all this would signify is that they were plain sided or worn when tightened.

As I say the nuts original factory fitted and nickel plated it has not been altered whilst on the knife

The flats are on both side and parallel so a spanner could be used to tighten the nut

Is this a sterile one or a 56 marked example?

I would suspect it to have been tightened with a plumber spanner based on the view of the surface of the flat sides.

as i say the nut is original it has not been messed with it left the ws factory this way the nut it nickel plated it was not filed whilst on the knife and a plumbers wrench has not been used to tighten it after it left the factory
