    2 new MkIIs

    Hi all!

I 'd like to share the latest additions to my collection, 2 MkII helmets. Finding these in Greece is not as easy as it may seem , since the vast majority of those found are the Greek '50s refurbished ones. It looks like when they are found though, that they turn out to have some interesting features, like multiple repaints, one being of a sand/brownish colour, like one I had posted quite some time ago:

I hope you 'll find them interesting, off with the photos!

    Regards, Giorgos

First one, looks like it had a sand colour repaint before being repainted green, dated 1942.

The screw has been replaced with a split pin. It looks properly aged, oxidized and pretty tightly held in place.

Second one, a 1943 dated BMB, first looked like it had been repainted green above surface rust. Upon closer inspection, though, it looks like it was actually repainted over a brownish colour, clearly different than the oxidation formed in other areas. Sadly, it seems that someone tried to sandpaper the green paint, giving a glossy finish to the respective areas, possibly removing some paint bubbles and exposing the first layer of green paint...

Mm and date are visible on the outer side of the rim.
