    WWI British Brodie helmets thinner than US M1917?

    I was looking at a WWI British helmet with the donut inside the liner, and noticed the shell felt slightly thinner? lighter that a US M1917 ? especially around the brim area.

    did the helmets thickness vary by manufacturer?
