How do I install a seconadary text?

Hi there tech experts!

When translations are provided for Japanese kanji, all I can see is little boxes, the kanji does not show on my screen.

The same in email, just blank boxes.

I have the old XP Professional operating system.

Does anybody know how I can fix this so I can see the kanji characters?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
