I believe this pic is from a visit to the Wolfschanze by the Gauleiters in 1944:

OK, Bob, I will get this thread back on track. This is the first I have ever seen of this foto--Ley wearing and Einsatz u. Dienst uniform with a Volkssturm armband and a soft M-43 hat--he does look tired compared to the earlier pics in this thread:

Greiser (most of these pics are from the AHF, so are public domain)--they have some phenomenal razor-sharp pics over there, but you have to search for them.

Rare M-43 in wear--uniform appears to be an einsatz u. dienst variant:

Same individual as above pic--he appears to be an Ober-Bereichsleiter at the Kreis level:

                            Stonemint~

I'm fairly certain that's Franz Hofer (Gauleiter Tirol-Vorarlberg) rather than Lauterbacher in the small color photo.
See http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...Hofer&start=15 for further discussion of this picture.

                            Best,
                            ~ Mike

I agree it must be Hofer, also shown here in this picture, (which is part of the Walter Frentz collection I think?).

                                What's with his inside-out armband?
