If you are thinking of adding this book to your library, perhaps you
should act soon; only about 70 copies remain. After that, it will be
'out of print' until/unless a publisher decides to create a reprint. Used
copies will almost certainly sell for more than the current price of $80-.

.....and now we’re using the scare tactics as well. OMG, if I don’t buy this book quickly for such a steal at $ 80, then I WILL HAVE TO buy it later at a higher price. With such a childish and egotistic approach to this thread, I would not keep your fricking book on my shelf it it were for free and gold plated.

Beaver/Bando book almost sold out

Anyone accessing my for sale page on Amazon.com will note that the price of the book is now $90- and 3.99 postage. There are only about 40 copies left and this book will be out of print.

I have had this book for the past four years and look at it frequently for the great photography, outstanding items featured and interesting stories. I would recommend it to fellow SS collectors. Too bad things went south on the discussion of it, IMO.

I am not a collector of things SS, just too much money involved and really only one or two things which I would really consider having.
A few years ago I met Mark Bando at a book fair in Normandy, nice man easy to talk to , no ego what you saw was what you got.
Sadly no english language reprint edition of "In the Land of the Dead" has been forthcoming , rather a let down in my opinion, it really did deserve one.
I bought his book having read this thread , only down side was outside the author's control- the overseas postage but that was my choice.
I have the late MB's set by Schiffers , so I can't imagine I will be buying another book on SS related items but no regrets in buying Mark's book.
The views expressed , everyone has their own say but for me a decent book obtained from Mr Bando, who was more than helpful.
Sold out ....the French Heimdal edition has pretty much gone , at the Tilly book fair last year George Bernage had a few copies for sale after which he would have no more.

Honestly I've never heard so much dribble in my life. This sounds like a FB rant. As the saying goes - just because it's in the book it must be real.

The books good, yes, but there are other books that are equally as good, and you don't hear them whining.

I concur - juvenile, self-serving, cringeworthy tripe - does the author no favours at all.
