New 3 part series on the invasion of Norway

This evening was the third and final part of 3 x 1 hour documentary series on the invasion of Norway based on veteran interview and very well done reconstructions.

Allierte og alene (allied and alone) draws on veterans from Norway, Britain, France and Poland to tell the story.

part 1 deals with the first 10 days or so in Southern Norway
part 2 Is mostly focused on the disastrous British intervention in Southern Norway
part 3 is about Narvik and includes British, Polish French and Norwegian accounts

I must say the series was very well done and they've done a great job in getting the uniforms and weapons right (yes, there are some mistakes, but we can forgive GJ wearing white waffenfarbe)

I'm not sure if you can watch it outside Norway but here are the links to stream the program.

Obviously the commentary is in Norwegian, but the interviews are in their original languages.

I'm sure the series will get sold on to other countries eventually, at least i hope so, as it's a story very many outside of Norway know little about but was absolutely crucial to how the rest of the war would play out.

I tried to view that got a message which said :

The NORWEGIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION do not have rights to view this program outside of Norway

Parts of the NORWEGIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION's TV content is only available in Norway. This is particularly true of program produced outside of the NORWEGIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION.

Read more about our rights on the help page.

See here for the list of programs that you can see in the foreign countries.

There is a browser plugin ('hola' for Chrome) which can mimic viewing from other countries - I tried that plugin browsing from Norway but got a different error (Vi har problemer med avspilling) which is a shame ! I am hoping they sell this programme to other tv companies at some point.

Friend from Norway has been seeing it an says is very good. He said he would try and get me a DVD when available and send to me, and if no subtitles...would put them in for me.

I'm sure the series will be sold to other countries, especially those involved in the series.

Part 2, which deals with the British fighting in the Gudbrandsdal valley late april 1940 includes an interview and excellent reconstruction of the actions of platoon Sgt.Mjr. John Sheppard, the first British soldier to knock not just one, but two panzers in WWII, he did it with an otherwise almost useless Boys AT rifle. Actions for which he was awarded the DCM
