I'd like to see a book forum as well, since I read books all the time.

Since I usually only read military/history books on WWII I think it would be very helpful in the same way the medals/awards forums are in saving money on the crap out there, books are no different!

    Got my vote!

I just finished WHERE GHOSTS WALKED...Munich's Road To The Third Reich by David Clay Large. He covers extensively the roots of National Socialism from the late 19th century to 1933 in and around Munich with all the major players [and minor as well] included. A chapter on Red Munich and Kurt Eisner is covered also. Truly a fine book and a suprisingly easy read. 3 stars IMO. We need a book forum We need a book forum....We need a book forum. For me, this isn't just about collecting Nazi memorabilia but a study of one of the most tragic and dynamic periods in World History. Lets get working on it. We could even possibly have some sort of book exchange amongst us as a lot of what I read is out of print. What do you all think?? Robert

I'd be interested in discussing historical fiction, alternate history as well as books like the various Osprey titles. I have more than 150 of their books and I find some to be excellent resources and others to be flawed with confusing or incorrect information. So I'm game for a "military book club" of sorts!

I am going to tackle "Panzer Leader" by Guderian as my next reading venture. Any reviews before I crack the spine?

Hi Al, the book is a must read for anyone interest in the Panzerwaffe. I read it many years ago, about age 15. I enjoyed reading about his dealings with Hitler.

                      Cheers, Ade.

                          Hi all

A book forum does sound good. I'm always reading military history books, anything from 1700 - 1945.

I have just recently read Hans Von luck 'Panzer Commander' exclenant book very good first hand account of his life from pre war to finnaly getting home from a russian gulag in the late fiftys.
A devout anti nazi from a military family he fought on every front during the war.

                          Very highly recomended.

'Panzer Commander' is a great book, it is written in a style that is very readable and not dry and technical as some can be. I do wonder what happened to his Knights Cross that he managed to keep thru captivity in Russia only to be stolen by burglers in Hamburg.

Thanks for the comments about Guderians book, I am starting on it tonight but being the slow reader I am it will take awhile.

Blood Red Snow - The memoirs of a German Soldier on the Eastern Front by Gunter K. Koschorrek.

Great book. Mr. Koschorrek wrote this book on any scrap of paper he could find and sewed these pieces of paper into his jacket, as keeping a "diary" was strictly forbidden. He would give these scraps to his mother whenever he went on leave but it didn't turn into a book until he was reunited with his daughter 40 years after the war...

my only complaint was that there isn't enough detail at certain parts of the book...but it's a very minor complaint. Get it and enjoy.

Soldat - Reflections of a German Soldier 1936-1949 by Siegfried Knappe & Ted Brusaw.

Again, a great personal memoir of a German Soldier. I was lucky enough to find a 1st U.S. edition hardcover for $8.00 at a used book store.

Here's a link to amazon's site where you can read the first several pages of this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0440...51#reader-page

I highly recommend this book. Enjoy.
