    Can Anyone ID This Book

I am looking for the title of a book from perhaps 10-12 years ago.
It dealt with the theft and disappearance of Nazi plundered and recovered loot at the end of the war.
I believe the author was either American or British. he had done extensive research.
The book was 9x6 hardcover and seems it had a white background dust jacket with either black or red lettering.
I think I ordered this book through Military Book Club but I could be wrong.
It was about 200 pages or so, had some black and white photos.
It had chapters about Merkers, a painting that disappeared from the office of General Patch that was never recovered and the search for it. It also had either the complete story or a mention of a train of gold that disappeared at the end of the war that has never been found. It also had the story of a husband/wife team that were courts martialed for theft for stealing jewels from the Hapsburg family.
It also had an appendix of many items/events pertaining to gold, currency and art that are missing.

Can anyone help me either come up with a title of the book or the author's name?
    It is appreciated in advance.

    Thank you!

      Gran Sasso,

No, it is not. I reviewed that one last night and it is not the one I am looking for. The one I mentioned also had a chapter of the Amber Room.
      It was a fascinating read.

      Thanks,

      Dave

        Dave,
Kenneth Alford has written a few books on the topic, including "The Spoils of World War II: The American Military's Role in the Stealing of Europe's Treasures". Is that it?

Thanks for your help and that of Gran Sasso. You both pointed me in the right direction, I think.
Still not sure I have the right book, but I think it is indeed Alford's. I checked his titles earlier today, and the book I am seeking I think is titled; 'Nazi Plunder Great Treasure Stories of WWII."
I was able to preview a portion of it on google and much of it appears to be similar except that the cover design was slightly different as I recall, which is no big deal.
I'll buy a copy and see if it is the one.
You guys are the best and I very much appreciate the assistance.

          Thanks,

          Dave

            Ken Alford

Ken will be one of the Seminar Speakers at the MAX Show this year and has a new book out on the Aladin's Cave and Goering treasures. This will be a good one.
