Thank you macleod ! Since it's been out of print for several years, it's almost impossible to find in any condition. I'm glad you are enjoying it. I worked on it on and off for 20 years (WAY before the internet). It was several trips to Germany & thousands of road miles visiting award winners, collecting info & photos. Thanks again, Tom

Tom, any chance for an updated or expanded version in the future?

Well it's something I would have to talk over with my Publisher. (Roger Bender) If he thought the market would support a revised addition it might be possible. I know I could add many more biographies and updated info & photos. Originally there was going to be a chapter on RKT Pak gunners and their tank kills. It's complete and all it would take is a re-write & some more photos. So I guess it's possible. I'll put it to Rog and see what his thoughts are. Thanks, Tom

Well, before reading the thread that a forum member wrote on the same subject I´ve already purchased the Berger book `Panzerknacker´. It is refreshingly sympathetic with these desperate heroes and the book is well structured in Panzernahkampf weaponry and effects, Panzerknacker school courses and curriculum, the badge, it´s requirements and issue types, the Panzerfaust today and of course above all the picked profiles and actions of famous Panzerknackers from a 16 year old Latvian school boy up to a U-boat captain used as infantry man... that´s the biggest part as hoped. There are years of research and good contact to the vets involved as well and a honest interest in these vets stories. I stress that because it is not usual for a German historian to write such an unbiased book. So of course I believe Toms book isn´t lagging behind but both are certainly well researched and compiled and worth reading.
