Limited Edition book on Tiger Tank Ace Otto Carius

Otto Carius was one of the most successful Panzer commanders ever to take a Tiger tank into battle, destroying some 150 tanks and being decorated with the Oakleaves to the Knights Cross.

Military artist and publisher Uwe Feist has produced a special book as a tribute to German Tiger tank ace Oberleutnant Otto Carius. The first copy of this book was presented on April 24, 2012 to Herr Carius in honor of his 90th birthday (27. May 2012).

Only 500 copies each have been printed of the regular edition and the special slipcase edition. The slipcase edition is only available from Feist Books www.feistbooks.com and RZM Imports www.rzm.com/books/fb/fb003.cfm

The regular edition should be available from your favorite mail order dealer. If they don't have it listed yet please tell them to contact us ASAP before it's completely sold out.

How does this compare to Tigers in the Mud? Does it contain new material and photos?
Or is it a nicer presentation of the previous?

        Cheers

This book was produced by Uwe Feist as a labor of love tribute to honor Otto Carius. Most of the text is coming from the book "Tigers in The Mud." What makes the book special is there are lots of photos people have not seen before
from Carius's private collection which he allowed Uwe to use in the book. It also has nice color shots of all his awards and documents. And there are some nice candid shots of Carius from recent years. If you're a fan of Herr Carius you will not be disappointed with the purchase of this book.

Hi Remy, I am considering buying this book, but the %80 price tag makes me hesitant.
Amazon states "The book also contains excerpts from his book Tiger im Schlamm."
Does the book borrow a few of these "excerpts"? What percentage of the book is made up of the excerpts from Tigers in the mud?
            Thanks

You can purchase the regular edition on the RZM website for $58.50 which is not a bad price.

Basically this book is a nice pictorial tribute to Herr Carius which uses a combination of photos coming from his private collection and lots of other cool wartime shots coming from the publishers private collection.

The text used in this new book is coming from Carius's first book "Tigers in The Mud." However there is a newly written forward or introduction by Herr Carius
and there are some post war family photos, nice color photos of all his awards,
and photos showing the various editions of his book published in Germany many years ago.
