    For those that are interested:
the book "Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich" (Gorgets of the Third Reich) is now available in Germany at:
    www.vdmedien.com

    Text in German; weight 2.5 kilo; big size with 704 pages with over 1.500 photographs of actual gorgets and the use of them;
some information about when a gorget is being used with a flag and explanation when a gorget is in use for "police-like" duties; and some extra information!

The prices is now 119,- euro. But for that - as far as I am informed- the shipping is included (inform yourself at the seller. Contact them).

        There is no English version!!

The book was in its beginnings planned in two languages, but as it grew to big, we (me, the author and publisher) decided to drop english. As mentioned before the book has in German language 704 pages with 1.500 photographs and does weight about 2.5 kg.
If later an English version will come is unknown yet to me.

        best regards,

            hello Stonemint,

when looking on the Internet I see the book is offered mainly in Germany at this moment by various dealers. Google: Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich and you will find out.

I think the easiest would be to look at www.vdmedien.com and when mailing them ask about shipping conditions. I was told they arranged something for foreigners. In Germany and Europe shipping is for free and I think they will do also something for countries outside Europe. When ordering at vdmedien I think you will have the book in about 8 days after payment send!

I will mail my publisher and ask them if the books will be available in the USA and who sells them then. I got all of my copies in two big shipments, on Friday and today, but pitily for all those are interested I was sold out in a nick-of-time,
as my close circle of friends was aware for the book since August last year when I told them the book would finally be published. They were listed then!

Got my copy today, a numbered edition! Wim’s name as an author proceeds him as he’s very particular in mentioning his sources and he doesn't copy text from other books, using regulations as reference instead. I thought it couldn’t getting better than “Aiguillettes of the Third Reich” but with “Ringkragen und Brustschilder” he has written a master-piece that has an incredible amount of information compared with a lot of photos in wear. The book is worth every penny. I’m sure this will become the new handbook regarding this subject, as the well known “Dieter & Odegard” now looks like a flyer!
              Well done!

Finaly a new reference about gorgets/ringkragen since 1977, this reference will become the "gorget-bible" for everyone that might be interested in this topic and/or collect these gorgets.
The Saris/Mollo gorget book is one of the best references that have been published in the last years. Lots and lots of superb and unknown photo's and information of the gorgets and also very rare material in wear is shown. The price with some Euro 119,- is high, but must be seen as an investment in your own knowledge. One can really learn !!!
This book could safe you also a lot of money for buying fake gorgets, as many particular details from the originals are shown. And there are many fakes around nowadays.
This is a reference one cannot lay away.

Outstanding, Wim. All the research has really paid off!
Definitely fills a gap in TR collecting, but this book is also for tunic guys like me (look at that Forstschutzkommando pic!!), and visor collectors, and flag, etc etc.
I'll be struggling through the German for many months, and enjoying every minute!

Today I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up my signed copy of this most wonderfull book, from Wim personally. We had a lengthy talk and discussion about the various aspects of the book which makes it, for me, even more valuable. Thanks Wim !

As allways with books written by Wim Saris, the wealth of information contained in this one is staggering. As with his books on Aguilettes and his series on TR Headgear he shows not only the gorgets, but also period regulations, many many period photo's and in this book also sidelines such as the flags for which most Fahnentraeger Ringkragen were intended.

A true must for every collector of TR militaria.

This is a most marvelous book with an incredible amount of information for a beginner, or an advanced collector.

So many photos and period pictures make it a great learning tool or just plain enjoyment of the hobby!

                            Well done Wim!

                            Congratulations!

                            Best regards,

I've only had time to go through about 1/3 of the book, and it is fabulous! As noted above, the research is directly from period sources, regulations, period catalogues, etc. Even if you don't read German, the photographs are self explanatory, and the majority of the photos haven't been seen, coming from public and private archives.
And if you don't read German but would like to learn, this is the perfect book to use as your textbook!
