Hi, Not quite sure if i'm in the right area. I am looking for anyone who knows anything about this German Newspaper. I have been offered a 1933 one, but it is pretty obvious it is a copy. It is only four pages and has been 'aged' . I would like to now how many pages the real thing had? Also, what they go for on the open market? This particular 'copy' is from Janurary 1933 and has a photo of Hilter on the front page. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi,
In the U.K. several years ago, a publisher re-printed a series of historic newspapers which were on sale through W.H. Smith and other newsagent store chains.
I cannot remember if these (quite long list of papers, I think) reprint editions were specific to WW2, or of a more general theme.
I bought several at a local antique market which were reprints of both British and German newspapers, without too close a look at them.
If I recall correctly, there was a copy of The Daily Mirror concerning the raid on Dieppe, and the V.B. edition reporting the election of Adolf Hitler in 1933 amongst others.
They were very cheap, around £1 pound each and on realising they were reprints they ended up in the bin!
Perhaps your newspaper is one of these reprints?
Best regards,
John.

Thanks for replying. I bought a Volks. Beob. on eBay. When it arrived it was clearly a copy. It was only 4 pages. I have a genuine 'Berlin Illustrated Paper', the paper quality is very smooth, has 20 pages, i know this is mostly a picture newspaper, hence the large number of pages. The Volks. Beob. that i bought (which i also returned) had very course paper, i could tell it had been artifically aged, but the big give away was the black mark that appeared on the front page on the bottom left hand corner. The mark was were the original had been torn, so when it was copied it made a black mark and low and behold, when i looked on the 'Wikipedia' site, there was the same paper that i had bought, tear mark and all. It was the Janurary 1933 edition with A.H. on the front. When the paper was first published in the early 20's, it only had 4 pages then, so i imagined that the page numbers would have grown. The seller thought this paper should have sold for $100 AUD ( i paid $20AUD, $15 too much) crazy! I am going to keep clear of buying paper items on-line. I think it best to see it 'in the flesh'
