Gritty !!!! Hey It was nice to see some of the old neighborhood. The movie was great because it wasn't contrived a bit. The only technical failure was they don't go topless in Jersey Shaker Bars. Big mistake in the Sopranos also

uhh ... that was the whole point of the movie. What did you think it was going to be ? A Hulk Hogan happytime cartoon?

                Uh like dude

Dennis, you state that "it is 50% okay", but you left after five minutes. Are you assuming it was a ten minute movie? Your Math makes zero sense. I used to watch the Von Erichs in the Sportatorium and the Movie looked good to me. Several of my Friends in the wrestling business loved and it and gave it high marks. In addition the Steroid Dealer in the Movie recently got busted for dealing Juice and led the Cops on a high speed chase and had a trunk full of steroids. Not realistic enough for you??....hey what the fu%% I am trying to discuss a Movie with a Guy who only saw 5 mintues of it ....!!! Go back and watch the whole thing and let's have a good discussion.

                  Ooops ... BUSTED !!!

I bet they hate that when they get caught

Mick Foley and Ted Dibiase were recently interviewed on TSN's Off the Record. They both had very GOOD things to say about the movie. I guess Dennis wrestled in a different era ...

When I said I was in the movie 5 min that was wrong as I might have been there 10 min I do not know but my old school mate and best friend who I worked with back in the 70's Vince McMahone went to a advanced screening and he told me about the movie before I went and we had a good laugh The steroid dealer back in my day were severial Dr's in severial areas. Most of the dealers were fellow wrestlers. The wrestler from what I saw and Vince told me about sounded and looked like the low level production wrestling like Fred Atkins aka Fritz Von Erich had there in Texas. Now that would be a movie where you could show how Fred drove most of his sons to kill themselves because of steroids and having a dad like that pos.But where I was in the whole North east and the rest of the good ol USA like the old AWA and where I worked called the WWWF things were different as we went to Dr's to get RX drugs and steroids we got pot and lsd from each other. The boys on the west coast had the best street drugs except New York city where you could get anything you wanted from the mafia dealers.Today is different everybody knows that it is a show aka is a work back then it was tabo to say that and you could get fired if you hung out with the baby faces(good guys)and you were a heal. However if you were the "Star"aka the wrestler on top making the money for the business things were different for you untill you were used up and had to move on to another area.It is a very hard business to be in today a lot harder than when I was in the business. When I srarted working for Vince Sr you had to learn the business inside out like setting up rings from one town to the other, sell tickets and programs greet the fans at the door work in the front office and yes sometimes you had to take care of another wrestler who was getting a little too big for his own good and give him a good streaching in the ring. Here is something for you wrestling fans we all know it is a work but the next time you watch a show look and you will see that all the wrestling moves are done from the left. That means every arm drag head lock is done by left handed moves. The other thing is I use to see Micky in New Orleans knocked out drunk or whatever face down on the bar in all the GAY bars. The French quarter in NO is a place where gay, stright people knew each other and nobody cares what you do.So when we would see people like Micky and others doing their thing we could care less as long as they were spending their money it was their business and that was that.So it was hard for me to watch Mickey in this movie after seeing him the way I did in those days.Mickey was a boxer but would get too drunk and was allways getting his ass kicked.

                      Have a good one

Dennis that's all fine and dandy and thanks for the "inside" scoop (many of us already know this stuff). However, it still doesn't explain how you could walk out after (now it's 10 minutes) and say it wasn't accurate. That I still don't get.

Dennis:I have to wonder how can you walk out of a movie after ten minutes ,and think you saw enough, to make any kind of judgement on the accuracy of the film? Some movies tend to start slowly, and tell the story as they go,don't you think?Just my opinion.

The Wrestler Is A Great Movie!

Kirk! I guess talking to Vice before the movie and he telling me it was about 50% and hearing what other wrestlers(Rick Flair) said after the movie all agreed that I had spent too much time and money in the movie. Now I know that you guys know a lot more than Vince about pro wrestling but after his negative statements I really did not want to go see the movie at all but I told him I would so I tried to see it but just could not be there and watch the rest.I told Vince I tried too watch the movie but to me it sucked we had a good laugh and then went on to other business. Please understand this guys what wrestlers say to the public(marks)and what we say to each other is sometimes different as night and day.In my day we never thought of getting steroids from dealers when you could get them from Dr's where we knew that what we were getting was the real deal and not some junk made up in a basement or from another country. The best steroids came from our friends from Russia and the commie bloc countries when they came to the USA back in the 70's.I knew all of them and their trainners and Vince with a lot of help from Vince Jr and his wife Linda made all of this possiable by bringing in the commie bloc wrestlers and weight lifters to the USA so the public could go PAY and see these athletes in person. So we would meet these guys and so to speak compaire notes about what they used to get bigger and stronger. You can beleive me or not but they had the best of the best and they were cool guys,I could tell you stories you would not believe. All body builders and weight lifters as well as gym rats know a dealer that hangs around the gyms and sell steroids as well as other drugs but god knows where they come from.
This is all the time I am going to spend on this movie and wrestling. If you do not like what I said or believe me I really could care less.

I doubt you even went to see it. You obviously don't like Mickey Rourke, are hung up on your failed wrestling career and sound like those Hollywood critiques who don't even watch the movie yet write up detailed reviews.

                                Please, give me a break
