Just saw an ad for this movie, which is opening this weekend. It is about the son of a KZ- Kommandant who befriends a Jewish boy who is interned at the camp his father runs. I had never heard of it, or the book it is based on until today. Has anyone read the book and/or seen the movie?

I have read the book, it is awesome! You haven't heard of it because it is a kids book, roughly middle school or so. It's told from the point of view of a boy whose father is a camp commandant, and the boy is jealous of all the kids on the inside of the fence because they have somebody to play with and he is lonely! Consequently, the boy is trying to figure out how to break INTO the concentration camp.Comment

I saw this movie.. I try to see any period movie on the subject of WW2 Germany.
As long as you go into this with low expectations, you should be fine...
It isnt great by any means, but if you like period movies, and youre bored, and you have NOTHING to do, and you go during the day when matinee pricing is available, and you know you probably wont like it, then you may be pleasantly surprised.
(On the positive side, it has the dame from The Departed, the chick Leo and Matt Damon both pursue, although she isnt as hot in this one as she was in the Departed..)Comment
