New RZM book: "Platz der Leibstandarte"

    Dear fellow collectors,

I am particularly proud to present a new book, which will be soon published by RZM (February 21, 2002):

"Platz der Leibstandarte" A Photo Study by George Nipe & Remy Spezzano (http://www.rzm.com/books/rzm/lah.cfm)

My brother, Marco Ortelli, contributed as artist by illustrating it with colored gouache artworks, portraiting the most remarkable Waffen-SS leaders during the battle of Kharkov, between January and March 1943. You can see on the last book's extrait an example of my brother's full page colored artwork.

It might sound like an advertisement for the upcoming RZM's publication, but I am convinced that the quality of the original wartimes photos and historical accuracy of the captions will equal if not be better than the previous RZM's book "Grossdeutschland, for God, Honor and Fatherland", one of the best photo book ever published on the subject.

I am anxiously waiting for the book to come out!!!

    mit besten kameradschaftlichen GrĂ¼ssen,

    Claudio Ortelli

      Andrew,

I am so sorry for you, you completely misunderstood what I wanted to express. Actually I couldn't hide my happiness to finally see that some of my brother's illustrations are going to be published in a high quality photo book.

Maybe I was just expecting from your side a bit of moral support and perhaps wish him good luck!If you were an artist, you would understand how difficult is this profession.

You know, Andrew, by doing that I don't even earn a single cent! I never asked my brother to give me something for whatever I did for him, because I do it from the bottom of my heart. I am only proud of my brother's artwork, because he is really talented. That's it! Are you happy now, too?

      Sincerely,

      Claudio Ortelli

P.S. : When the book will be available, maybe you can borrow it from some other friend or WWII history student in order to appreciate my brother's work!
