    YIKES!!..."War of the Dead"

How's THIS for a plot synopsis?

    "War of the Dead"

"Unusual attacks are occurring all over the United States. Old WWII veterans are being hunted down ruthlessly. When it is discovered that an undead trio of Nazi zombies are behind the attacks, it's up to special agent Conda, a member of the mysterious vanguards, to save the last remaining veteran from certain doom."

I work in Film and TV, and I can tell you that THIS is typical of the reason that the sad state of affairs that exists in Film and Television, is the way it is.....It's amazing that there are GOOD struggling young filmmakers with important and entertaining ideas, who can't get the financing for their films, and yet, THIS project got pitched and bought.....

    Bob.
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

The sad fact is that this is the kind of project that is more interesting to many and ironically makes more money than some films with "important and entertaining ideas." Yes, it's a sad but true reflection of the type of trash that makes money these days.

Its not supposed to be historic or artistic, its supposed to be FUN!

Do people complain at a carnival spookhouse if the mispelled a word on a fake tombstone on the ride?

Sheesh Ive seen quite a few threads here on how cool the film shockwaves was.

Wow! My retarded 13-year-old grandson read it and thought it was awesome. He wants to know when the video game version is coming out?

In the light of some subsequent comments, I suppose I should clarify the meaning of my own earlier comment.

I certainly agree that there is a place and purpose for all genres of film. Yes, even a film about Nazi zombies can serve as a fun, brainless, popcorn movie. I myself even like quite a number of B and ocassionally even Z-grade movies. I like the 50's sci-fi movies featuring rubber-suit monsters, rocketships with sparkler propulsion systems, and painted cardboard backdrops. Yes, I even like some of the current movies using retro-effects, cardboard acting, and nonsense plots. So, I agree with the fact that some of these movies are indeed entertaining and even purposeful to many--those produced in the past as well as the present.

However, my earlier post was a reaction to the focus of Bob's initial, legitimate comment. I was agreeing with the sad fact that so many more meaningful and truly important movies today won't be financed and produced due to an ironic overdemand for the brainless, nonsense genre. If there was equal production of all types (and better yet at least equal demand for both), I don't think anyone would have much to say about any of this either.

I understand that Hollywood is just another business, and they produce whatever people buy. However, what people overwhelmingly buy and consequently exclude is, I think, mostly the initial issue of this thread, and that is what I was initially responding to. I would never go so far as to say that there is no niche in our society for movies about zombie Nazis. However, I will go so far as to agree that zombie Nazis often outrank their superiors, so to speak...

                Chris

P.S. Although my comments may sound deadly serious, I'm really having quite a bit of fun with all this!
I guess it's much like a movie about zombie Nazis!

I think it would actually sell quite well... I'd say it's the perfect gimmick for tha average consumer these days.
