    New film- Dresden

A friend just tipped me off about this new made for TV film based around the Dresden raid. Looks good....as long as you understand German that is. It's in 2 parts an hour and a half each. Let's a hope a DVD comes out with English subtitles.

As long as they don't turn it into some stupid love story like Pearl Harbour I'm sure that it will be a difficult film to watch though considering what happened

I'm afraid you'll be as dissapointed as I was: there IS a love story, one between a German nurse and an English pilot!

The love story was a bit daft but on the whole i think it was good. Quite a frightening portrayal of what it must have been like under a heavy air raid.

This just came out recently on DVD in the US (I stumbled upon it at Blockbuster today.) It is German made, 3 hours long, with English subtitles.
Uniforms were actually pretty good, although you don't see that much of them (BDM, Polizei, Goldfasanen, some SS, Feurwehr, and Kettenhunde).

Well made, and does a good job of what it must have been like to live through that nightmare. It is somewhat of a chick-flick, so your significant other may enjoy it, but it is depressing and does have some gore.

I see it as the best of both worlds.

WWII history portrayed with some realistic fashion.....and some sappy love story so your gf wants to watch it with you!

I'll be looking out for it when me and the gf have our movie night. Maybe it could even get her interested in WWII and my militaria collecting.

Probably not but its a try.

For me and most other Dresdner, this film was really trash, not worth to lose more words on it

Unfortunately I seen it here in Germany, a downed pilot aquiring a german uniform and attending parties and romanicing some woman was enough for me, chick flick, unrealistic. I was really disappointed that I wasted half an hour on it. Sorry Simon but Ill just stick to the war documentaries they show at 200 am here, that movie just didnt hit the spot for me

Really complete trash except for scenes from RAF bombers. Real quick scene when bomber got shot up-was that a He 219 using schrage musik?
