    Neophyte needs help please

I am just starting and need to know what books I need to obtain as references and the best places to purchase them. I am mostly interested in the Iron Crosses and combat badges.

I am almost overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge you guys
possess and take for granted when I, as a newbie, read some of the forums.

Appreciate any assistance you guys can give. Thanks!!!

Welcome aboard, namesake. You will find this Forum to be a very interesting, educational and worthwhile experience. The knowledge accumulated here is a great resource. I personally would recommend starting with "The History of the Iron Cross" by Gordon Williamson. You can probably obtain this book from one of book-seller sponsors of the site who will give you a discount if you notify him that you are a member. If you get this book, your knowledge will increase by leaps and bounds. Good luck!

Maybe you mean the Iron Cross of 1939 by Gordon. Do a search on that here and it should give you some more comments. If you are looking at badges in general, Detlev Niemann's Katalog/Price guide is also useful. As it has already been stated, check out the sponsor's websites. Do check out Bender's site.
