    Luftwaffe survival ..

I'm a Luftwaffe flight collector and the way these pilots had to survive after crashes etc. is my main concern at the moment.
Fascinated by that I will start to create most of their survival items by using scrap.
I always have a lot of fun with making something from nothing.

My first project I've tried is the Luftwaffe machete, a unique design, apparently used over land in the Russia area.

... In a former project I've already made the one person life boat, used by fighter pilots, worn in a bag on the back and the items needed while drifting around in the boat.

My wish is to complete a 3 men life boat with all what was in it, plus the crew.
I've started to collect ( scarce) drawings, pics and info from every item and now there's a long way to go to find the right stuff and technique etc..

I did manage to make the body of the boat already which is 50 cm scale 1:6
Just the naked body, lots of work to do.

Anyway, the machete as a start and has nothing to do with the boat.
To be more specific, I want to make all survival items used on land and sea.
I only have a hammer and saw, so it won't be easy ..

Anyway, the machete, made from sausage can, umbrella, scrap metal, some pieces of messing, old cigar box and a old wallet..

    Jos.

Thanks Federico, comments like this are enough for me to carry on ..
I'm just a beginner in scale modeling, it's not actually my main hobby, but I like it more and more, especially when the results are reasonable.
What I like about it is the way to find out how to make things by using imagination, how to make it possible etc..
The hunt for the right information, good pics or items ..
Fortunately as a long time collector I've a large data base with loads of good pics.

BTW, the size of the machete is about 9.5 cm in total.

More to follow I would say.

A nice start Jos, the machete looks great

Jos I only started a couple of years back, as the last time I did any model building was back in the 1970s! But being on a Military pension, and health issues, I had to keep my head busy, so after looking at all the great built models by members here, I thought I will take it up again.

So Jos it won't take long for you to get your skills up at the look at your machete you just made! For my short time building these models I found that my weathering skills have improved well!

And also I can't wait till you start showing your Life boat project,

        Lou

OK, first thing I've made for the boat, the bellows ..
The O2 bottle was just enough to keep the boat drifting, the rest had to be done with this thing..

            Original pics versus mini version.
It's about 5 cm and in working order.

            Jos.
