    1:48 Scale Tamiya PzKpfw III

    Hi All,

I guess it is "put up or shut up" time for me!

Here is a recently completed Panzer III which I decided to build straight out of the box and "factory fresh". The model is 1:48 scale as I plan to include in a diorama with 1:48 scale aircraft at some point. I will add some weathering before that time comes! I used brush and spray cans instead of an airbrush. I have to reacquaint myself with the airbrush after many years away from the building hobby.

    Best,

    Jeff

Very nicely done.... the PzIII tanks and StugIII's are my favorite tanks of all the German tanks, and PzIIC's being second to the III's

Thanks to all for the positive comments! I really enjoyed this build and I am working on another at this time.

@pzrwest: I really like the Panzer III and the derivatives as well! They certainly do not get the attention paid to the Tiger and Panther tanks.

For those unfamiliar with this small scale (1:48) line of armor kits from Tamiya let me show you the coolest feature in my opinion. Plastic tank kits have little weight (even at the larger 1:35 scale) when completed unless weight is added to the chassis during the build. Tamiya improves upon this situation by casting each tank chassis in metal which really gives the completed model a nice "feel" when completed. Attached is an image of the die cast chassis of my current build as well as a box top image. If anyone has built any kits from this series it would be great to see your completed work!

              Best,

              Jeff

Nice job on the Pz III.

I agree about the metal chassis. I always add a few fishing weights to my "all plastic" models.
