Question on 1/16 Tiger I by Air soft

I am thinking of getting one of these to chase the dog with, and I noticed that there are 2 types. One being the air soft, and another called Mauri OEM factory version. Are these the made by the same company?
Does any one know which one is more reliable? I also see them list a hop up system, what is it?
I have not been able to find any answers, hopefully someone has some experience with these.
    Thanks, Paul

The hop up system apparently enables the plastic BB to be shot with more power when the tank is moving forward at high speed.

      Air soft

My son is into the airsoft guns. Airsoft is a generic term for the pellet firing devices. No caps or explosive involved, just compressed air. There are two systems that I am familiar with. One uses an electric motor to create the compression. This system takes a lot of space and is used in the long arms. The other uses compressed gas and is used in the hand guns. The electric system is the best for range and shots per charge. I am not sure what is on the tanks. Airsoft is a generic term for these devices and there are several manufacturers out there. Some are better than others. Mauri is one of the companies. "Hop Up" refers to the pellet being forced into the chamber by spring action from below and given back spin as it leaves the barrel to give a flatter trajectory and better range and accuracy. Hope that helps.

          Hi Paul,

Tokyo Marui makes a 1/25th scale R/C Tiger I with airsoft gun, along with several other 1/25th R/C airsoft tanks. Marui's tanks are fantastic gems, but VHTF and expensive in the USA. And since they were never intended for world-wide sales, warranty support here is non extant.

The 1/16th R/C airsoft Tiger I you've seen is made by Hen Long (or Heng Long depending on where you read it) of the PRC.

H-L has NEVER EVER been a legit Marui "OEM".

H-L made/makes cheap, obvious knock-offs of Marui 1/25th tanks, but their 1/16th Tiger I targets Tamiya, as does their 1/16th R/C airsoft M26 "Snow Leopard". Their follow-on Tiger I-hulled Panther (Pantger??) is their own kludge.

The long/short is that their OOTB quality ranges from none to so-so.

They typically can be found on evilbay for under $20.00... with the usual ebay shipping profiteer over-charges. You would be entirely at the mercy of the honor of the retailer should you have problems early enough in the purchase to still qualify for a return for refund.

If you must have one, try to find one of these H-L tanks at a storefront retailer for just those reasons, in the end you pay as much as eBay but have a store to return it to.

My buddy was proudly showing off his brand new Heng Long 1/16 tiger tank to me, which he purchased for $75 including postage. Such a deal. Charged up the batteries and let 'er rip.

It rolled about ten feet, coughed, and died. Permanently.

Who was it saying China is the next global superpower?

              Sincerely,
              Ray

                  Hen Long Tank

Thats the feedback I have been getting too. Its a 50/50 chance of getting one that
                  runs or one that doesn't.

                    Hi,
I have a Mauri Abrams tank and have had a lot of fun with it. There are ways to tell the difference between the Mauri and Hen Long such as the number of wheels between the threads. Also, if the Mauri logo is not on the box, don't buy it. Aside from finding one on eBay I'm not sure if you can get them in the US. There are some good over seas toy stores such as Toy East that have them.

                        Hi modelers......

......click on the link and you'll see some images of what I believe are the H-L models. I don't know for sure. There is also another link embedded in there. I am in no way affiliated with these people, I merely thought someone might be interested in the images.

My mate had an H-L Tiger 1. When I had a go of it a while back it ran fine but the gun in it did eventually stop working for some reason. Think it’s most defiantly a case of you get what you pay for!

                          Cheers
                          Rob
