      Sad to read, the contribution they made i'm sure has for sure led to the formation of ethics and personal ideals for many of the generations that followed. The film, still while being a Hollywood production, was the first introduction to WW2 for many of us as kids and had an important role in telling the story of our warriors.

        I often think that the exploits of the men who planned, prepared and executed what became know as The Great Escape' (in particular 'Big-X' Sqn Ldr Roger Bushell) have not received the recognition they deserve.
