    AAF Tank Museum

Around Max weekend I managed to head up to Danville,VA about 2 hours north of Charlotte with some other forums members. There we found the AAF Tank Museum. http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/

Admission is $10. We went out a Saturday morning and only saw 4 other people in this huge museum.

Musem had a great collection of uniforms, guns, heavy weapons, and of course armored vechiles.

Here is the T-34 out front.

Gattling gun in the main hall. They also had a nice display on all the residents of Danville who have served, from Civil War to current deployment.

The rifle room. Interesting display of WWI and WWII rifles from all over the world. Only complaint is they are set pretty far back from the glass, so hard to get a good view. There is a catalog that lists all the details of each gun.

Uniform room. As the building was an old factory, it looks like they placed glass in all the management offices and then filled them with uniforms. Sorry for the quality of the pics but I had to deal with glare off the glass. Most of the uniforms are named.

Interesting piece. Attributed as a Late War Polizei belonging to SS Brigadefuhrer und Generalmajor der Polizei Fritz Schmedes, commanding general of the 36th Waffen Grendier Division der SS "Dirlewanger"
