Any members located in Germany? (at or near Kladen)

I'm interested in speaking with any members who live in Germany, particularly in or near Kladen. I am seeking help in researching and gathering information on my great uncle who was a co-pilot in a B-17 which was shot down over Germany. I have official detailed AAF reports stating his body was recovered and buried in Kladen.

Any members who are interested and willing please contact me. Thanks.

My reasoning and hope for this post is to maybe have a picture taken of the gravesite. I'm not sure if the crew were individually buried and the graves marked with their individual names or if it was a mass burial. But having a picture of the site would certainly feel like having closure on this situation.

Do you mean "Kläden" (west of Berlin)? Could not find "Kladen".

Its a small village of app. 280 inhabitans, but they have a homepage. Will try to call the mayor tomorrow (you could only reach him in the morning, so to late for today). Will let you know.

Gran Sasso, Johnny R is correct. Another member has offered to call and will be doing the followup. Thank you for your interest. Please don't call the Bergermeister.

Hi Gran Sasso, I wanted to thank you for taking an interest in my situation from Wehrmact Awards and am grateful for your offer to call the mayor of Kladen. However, at this time I ask that you do not call the mayor. Arrangements have already been made with another member who is in the process of contacting the mayor and following up with him. Please do not call. Thanks so much for your cooperation, and I thank you again for your interest in this matter. I'll certainly keep you and the other members updated on our progress.

Kurt is in Hannover which is close and he owes me money so we can force him to go to Kladen and take photos for our entertainment and to help identify these graves. .

In a similar light I will post my story of finding a German RKT with oakleaves unmarked grave and indirectly being responsible for having a stone put there. I never have told anyone the story. I will post the link here but start a new thread.

Mission accomplished. The search is now over. After much researching and leg work the answers I have been looking for have been found. It was discovered that the bodies of the five KIA crewmembers were exumed and re-buried in US war cemetaries. Two of which were buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium and the other three, which includes my great uncle, were brought back to the US and buried in the Long Island National Cemetery located in the state of New York. It turns out that this cemetery is only 3 hours from my and my families home, so a trip there will certainly be able to happen.

I want to give a special thanks to the WA members Johnny R and "Kurt", who gave their time, effort and expertise in helping to gain information aided to the finding of the information that I was seeking. Without their help this would not have been possible. I'd also like to thank Gran Sasso for his offering to help in this matter. It is certainly appreciated.

And a VERY special thanks to Johnny R, who, inspite of his busy personal and business schedule, made time to greatly aid me in my search. His kindness will always be remembered. Thanks Johnny R!
