Try the site "Third Reich in Ruins" and see what they have listed, if anything.

Nothing to see what I know of - but are you mobile? Within 100 - 150km distance are many, many great sites.

Some sites are also nice for woman, e.g. the lake at the Möhne-dam (dam-busters), or the site of the Ludendorff-bridge at Remagen, or the Ardennes, or Hürtgen-forest, or, or, or...

Also Eben Emael, Arnheim and Overloon are not far away.

Just found this thread....I visited back in Oct 2010

Ended up staying in the City, visited a flea market and didnt find much interesting and what was available was overpriced.

The best thing i found about Dusseldorf was the beer, its called Alt bier and
its the best ive ever tasted

                Andy,

I have a better advice. Let your woman at home and hunt down for the Huertgenwald near Dueren.

                Best

                  yes

I have been to Dusseldorf many times. I love the beer too! Their beer is Hannen Alt(light beer) or Diebels Alt(Dark Beer) Superb. The local flea markets are poor. They sell house clearance rubbish like roller skates and old hairdryers along with fruit and veg. I found no interesting Third Reich site. You will have too travel into Holland to see anything interesting.
