Operation Dragoon museum damaged by severe flooding

Some of you may have seen that there was severe flooding last month in the region of Draguignan and le Muy, in southern France. About 15 people were killed, and apparently up to 400 liters of rain fell per square meter within a few hours.
Draguignan and le Muy are the areas where the paratroopers landed for operation Dragoon-Anvill, the landing in southern France on August 15th 1944. The museum in le Muy was hit by the flood quite severely, and I just received these photos by email. Luckyly most of th military equipment can survive a bath in muddy water, but many things such as documents and photos have been destroyed.
    Here are some pitcures.

            Hi,

I have friends in this region…the nature is strong and some times cruel.

Very strong images for us that we dedicate to our time and money to preserve history.

The collectors must join themselves to help this museum ASAP!

I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

As far as I know, this museum basicaly has no budget. The 2 guys are volunteers who take care of it in their free time. They will probably have to take care of trying to repaire everything themselfs.
A real shame indeed, many veterans from USA and England, as well as local civilians gave their Dragoon relics to the museum.

                  that Brittish para baret...

Hope they can save most of the stuff! Don't let them wash the clothes with modern synthetic soap!

To see that...it breaks my heart.

I hope they can restore those great treasures and get back on their feet.

I have visted the museum 3 times and the lads sent me the pics too.

Very sad, but at least they and their familes were safe.

The Vets Association I am involved with are going to try and help out.

                      Cheers, Ade.
