    French villagers assasination WW2

Hi guys, Ive searched the net regarding the location of a Quarry/sand pit in France that was the scene of an assasination of some villagers, but have so far uncovered nothing.
My story goes like this, back in 1984/85 I was on a camping trip with the ATC and we stayed at a French town named Craon. Whilst there we went on a trip by coach, roughly an hours travel there, to a small village, where there was a large sand pit/quarry that during the second world war was the scene of the assasination of most of/the entire population of the village.
The story we where told was that some partisans had shot and killed a number of German soldiers, so as revenge/punishment, the inhabitants of the village where rounded up and taken to the sand pit, where stakes where driven into the ground, following the edge of the base of the sand pit.
The villagers where then tied to these stakes and machine guns/ rifles where fired from the center of the sand pit, outwards at the poor villagers.
At the scene, there was a wall, with small glass jars said to hole the remains of the villagers, set back into it, also containing the names of those killed.

As Ive said, Ive searched but have so far found nothing else about this.
When we visited the owner was intent on setting up a small museum, at the time they had a small shed where they where selling artifacts/post cards, but me being a niave kid didnt think twice to purchase anything.

As a side note, whilst we where there, one of the acompanying kids dug a bullet out of one of the stakes, still standing and not looking too bad for what at the time would have been about 40 years standing out in all weathers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your story follows the tragedy of Oradour-sur-Glane to some extent. You can check out this site: http://www.oradour.info/

Thanks for the link Jack, but unfortunately the place Im looking for is not mentioned anywhere there, although there where some very interesting external to Oradour parts.
At a guess the place I visited should be somewhere withinn a 60 mile radius of Craon, so Im going to try a longwinded search using google maps to see if that throws anything up.
