Well, i never needed to be in mölleröd to see the pathetic german assault, i saw it on youtube because a collector friend told me to look at the movie if i needed a laugh.<o></o>

The question I had is if you read up on the tactics because if you want to keep the history alive as you say , then maybe you should consider make it look like it and not a cheap <st1>Hollywood movie</st1><o></o>

And how do you keep the history alive? By dressing up like SS soldiers and live in tents from time to time? Sorry dude, but the SS ceased to exist in 1945, and you dressed up like a Ss soldier cant keep that alive or any other man in german SS uniform pretending to be a part of SS can keep that alive either.<o></o>

Since you seem to have an issue with reenactors I just want to know if you enjoy war movies.

If so, please tell me the difference between war movies and seriouse reenacting.


I'm the one laughing here.. Don't you know why we're portraying Division Nordland in Sweden? That's because many swedes went to Nordland during the war. Therefor Nordland is an important piece of swedish history. Whether you want it or not. At Möllerröd we had many people coming to us because they wanted to talk about the swedish volunteers. And all of them enjoyed talking with us.

In Denmark we portray Regiment Danmark. I wonder why????? Oh yes, it was a regiment established with the main purpose of concentrating the danish volunteers in one big unit. They're also an important piece of danish history.
And you do not here much about them in schools or in the movies!!! That is why we portray them- to tell their history!!
And we've had close contact with danish vets who fought from Russia to Berlin and Austria!

Tactics are usually pushed aside at public events so that the public can see what is happening. At a normal event you wouldn't have a bunch of guys shooting prone in a field at a bunch of infantry and tanks. Its for the public. (Collings Foundation)

If thats so imortant for the swedes come to Stockholm city in your uniform, when people ask you "WTF are you doing" , just answer them that you are an important part of the Swedish history.

Ill promise to pay all your medical expenses if you manage to survive.

And if your really a tought one perhaps you should go to Jerusalem telling them that you are only preserving history, but im not paying those expenses, as coffins are expensive.

Gosh.. Some times I feel that folks like you are the ones making history lessons in school so god damn boring. Which causes a decreasing interest to the subject World War II.

Each person has his own opinion about this topic. Even the veterans and the public. And many of them DO like what we're doing.

You're right.

I do hope you'll be there. After all it is rather nice seeing all those tanks- especially the T-34.

I almost got into re-enacting but decided to focus on collecting and visiting the sites themselves instead.

I think of it in current day terms that relate to me.

I'm a career sailor in the USN involved in "unconventional" duties that has seen combat, several deployments to the sandbox and other areas.

People write books and make video games about things I do, people love to brand their gear with "used by so and so, that makes it good!", and people re-enact what I do via lame airsoft games and such.

Do I look down on these mostly immature, fat people who would never pass the requiste training courses, who think they have the right to wear insignia I earned and could never know what it was like to really walk in my boots?

Damn right I do.

For the most part they just want all the cool factor that comes with the job/life and don't wanna put forth the effort to learn what it's really like.

I find this to be not so with WW2 re-enactors for the most part.

I'm not sticking up for re-enactors in general, I've seen some terrible terrible excuses that deserve to have their gear confiscated and smacked upside the head. I've also seen and met some very motivated hardcore people in the re-enactor community (a fair share being ex-US Military).

Will they ever truly know what it was really like to live the life of the soldat they portray as the world comes crashing down around them?

No.

But, they are doing something they like while keeping the memory of these soldats from another era alive as accurately as possible.

This is much more respectable then some immature asian kids, wiggers or fat old bald guys running around in gear that they think you wear, wearing insignia you practically died to earn, pretending to shoot each other with plactic pellets because it's "cool".

There are many in the world that would just LOVE to see WW2 stuff, especially the German side just sweeped under the rug for good, forgotten.

Don't forget.

(And don't be a 300 pound FJ either!)
