I have been to St Petersburg (Leningrad) and visit battlefields, museums, cemeteries and even participate in reenactment on real battleground (bunkers and trenches where still there). St Peterburg with it´s history is a unique and absolutely fantastic city and I can highly recommend a visit. Volgograd (Stalingrad) would be something...

A journey to Berlin is planned in may. Even if it just takes some hours to go there by car I have never seen the historical part of the city yet.

Dear von Olsson, I plan on going to Sverige in Autumn because I'm interested in the Svear history in Uppland, Upsalla, Sigtuna, Vendel etc.
Do you know of any old battlefields in Sweden where the old tribes fought? Such as the Ynglings, Svear, Goths etc?
I am very interested in Swedish/Germanic history and the tribes from these regions. Cheers.

        Hi,

I have been in Moscow and in the Ardennes.
I still have to go to Normandy (my next trip)...but my favourite would be Stalingrad.
I hope one day to go there.

Anyway all WW2 Russian Battle sites would be in my priorities(Leningrad, Kursk, Karkhov etc)

        cheers

I'm sorry to say that my knowledge about this age is very bad. I live about 15 km from a fortress (Bohus Fästning) that is 700 years old and have been seiged 14 times but never captured. The area around this castle is called Kongahälla and it have a rich history for 1000 year back. It´s a shame that I have never put any bigger interest in this part of the history, maybe I live to close...

Thank you. It's beautiful and full of history. Wiki says a volunteer blew himself up and killed the invading Swedes. Too bad we do not know the name of this brave soldier's sacrifice.
I may visit this place, since I'm goint to both Sweden and Norway for a bit of hunting possibly.
            Cheers for the info.

Ah, a Norwegian who killed 250 Swedes should burn in hell!
