    correct abbreviation

    Would anyone know what the correct abbreviation for Oberleutnant would be?
    Perhaps Oberlt.?

        I have also seen it abreviated as "Obltn"

        Bill Shea has at the moment a document set to a pioneer that shows "oberleutant" abreviated as "Oberlt" on a Kompanie letter.

        Its a bit like "leutnant".There are a few different versions of that.Two being "Lt" amd "Ltn"

          Checking through some examples,its also seen as "Obltnt".

          As for your original example"Oberlt".You can see an example of this abbreviation on page 245 of "The Iron Cross of 1939"(Gordon Wiliamson).
          It shows 3 pages and the inside cover of a Soldbuch to a holder of a Luftwaffe Honor roll clasp.It is the top left page shown.

            You're quite right, there are several variations used on period documents but only one official abbreviation.

              So Oblt. is indeed the official abbreviation?
