      The plaque and the soldiers you see on the above photos were on the left side of the monument (as you face it from the Odeonplatz) as it is the spot where the police fired at the marchers and killed and wounded a number of them. I have also just been to Munich and have very similar photos. I am now in Austria but not far from Berchtesgaden.....I have already spent 3 days up there, walking and exploring. I will post photos when I get back to the UK.

            Those superimposed photo's are fabulous and (at the risk of sounding cliche'd) effectively bring history to life on the monitor. Not much that can't be done on these computers. For years i lived in fear of them but now i can't stay off them
