Franz Stigler, 109 pilot saves B-17

One of the local LW collectors here was friends with Franz and had him over to his house a few times. He was given a few of Stigler's 57er awards, which he has proudly displayed among his collection. The collector told me Franz was actually put forward for the RK at the end of the war but it was either not approved or the end of the war precluded it being considered. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

Great story. Thankyou for presenting it.

Both men died in 2008, but its good that they finally met.
Its stories like this that keeps one interest and makes me
want to keep coming back.
