I would honestly leave it alone. The de-nazification is part of the history of this badge. By tampering with it you are taking away it's originality and making it just "played with". I mean this as no disrespect for your talents.

Normally I'm with the "don't muck about with it" gang but when it

That's like winning the lottery and then getting lucky down to the
pub all in one night!

On a serious note: Jimmy, have you ever considered making something
like a 'certificate of repair'? You know, like the "certificate of
authenticity" that some experts give out for high-end awards?
This might improve the value of the award and it would certainly make
the owner feel better. It could also improve the provenance especially
within this community. Just a thought.
