    help meeeeee

seems i cant post polls so i have question for everyone.

ive just bought a new 1914 ek2 n/c ribbon. lovely piece virtually mint, black on the core 99.9% etc etc.

whilst cleaning up the frame (no comments please ) i noticed the core move slightly!

    SHOCK HORROR!

but no its not a fake, its a problem ive seen before on second classes, part of the solder has come apart.

it runs from the 5th (clockwise from ring obverse) outer point to the 6th, obvious when viewed from the side looking at the third inside corner (still good to see the finish is applied nicely to the core and inside of the frame being silver not just plated on the outside)

so im really in two minds about this so its time for a public vote - do i leave it as it is keeping it all authentic and an otherwise close to mint cross, or nip down to the silversmith for a patch up job so theres no risk of this split spreading (even though im hardly likely to be wearing it at the somme )?

cant make up my mind so im gonna go with the majoriy on this one.

    thanks guys

    Hey Joel,
In the end it is all up to you, but I would say let it be. Like you said you are not going to wear it to the Somme. Take care,

I agree that it's really up to you. However, if you really want my opinion, I'd also leave it as it is. To be honest, not long ago I had exactly the same dilemma with one of my EK2's, and I did indeed leave it alone.
