    Quicksilver for silver cleaning?

Found this product the other day and it peaked my curiosity. They claim it removes tarnish by using a magnetic plate without abrasives, or corrosive chemicals.

Has anyone tried this on silver? If yes, what were the results??

I haven't tried that, but you can do this at home without spending any money.
Line the bottom of the kitchen sink (as long as it's not metal) with aluminum foil, fill the sink with steaming hot water, add 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 of salt, then put the silver items in making sure that they are laying on the foil, and, if more than 1 item, touching each other. You should see the tarnish gone in 5 minutes or less.
Rinse the pieces afterwards, with distilled/de ionized water if available, and then dry.
The measures of baking soda and salt are not critical--I just pour a bit of each in.
I'm sure that the product is just a fancy version of this method.

Great site for all archival products.....Use Erich's suggested method, though. It will take a couple of minutes longer, with virtually the same results....
