    Wisch

This is a nice small item given to me by my good friend John M. Donovan:<O</O
    <O</O
It is a small card which Wisch sent back to an American autograph collector after the war answering a question the collector had made him:<O></O>
    <O</O
    Quote<O</O
    <O</O
“Best regards, Theodor Wisch – After having fought against Bolshevism from 1930 until end of the war, you can surely imagine what I think about today’s political situation”.<O</O
    <O</O
    Unquote<O</O
    <O</O
I guess there is nothing more to add to “Teddy’s” dry and simple answer.<O</O
    <O</O
    <O</O
    <O</O
I would love to hear from anyone who has had correspondence with Wisch and could share some of his insights.<O</O

I just missed those shots, for sale recently...

"Teddy" around Sept. 1941 on the Estern Front after having been awarded the Ritterkreuz.

I lost out on this one as well.....

Wisch, as SS-Brigadeführer, along with RFSS H.Himmler at Papenschwandt, Austria on March 5th, 1944.

Only months away from receiving the Schwerter for his actions in the Falaise pocket where he got seriously wounded on both legs.

              Gef.Std. Kotowka (Dec. 13, 1943) - Wisch´s Birthday!

              Photo:
Wisch, Lehmann and others saluting General der Pz. Truppe Raus (4th Pz. Army) who briefly visited the command post that day and drives off with his truck.

              Funny situation:
A short time after the General had left, Robert Arthecker, the Chef of the Bakery Company placed a nice birthday cake on the table inside the command post.

Suddenly a tank-cannon-shot is heard outside and shakes everyone up. Everyone scrambles for their guns and takes cover. Rudi Lehmann jumps towards the cake, takes it and in order to protect it jumps out of the window into safety!

Only seconds later the situation becomes clear: Stubaf. Kuhlmann (Kdr. I./Pz.Rgt.1) had ordered a Panther parked outside to shoot "salute" for Teddy´s birthday party! With everyone relieved after the initial shock, Rudi Lehmann comes back into the hut again, smiling, with the unharmed birthday cake in hands...

                        Group shot

A classic shot taken on Sepp Dietrich´s birthday party:

                        Sandig - Wisch - Kraas - Becker

Maybe because he owns his Knights cross or owned it in the past?

Yes, that could be and would be cool! But unless it came first-hand from the family I would not trust in any "attributed" KC at all.

I have seen too many KC document groups with added or switched around medals over the years, that I simple cannot get impressed anymore. Groups can be and are being manipulated coming also directly from the family for turnover´s sake. Collectors or traders then selling these groups want to make money and I see this very emotionless. Anything goes.

As a matter of fact, when Wisch got sold in 1997 the whole documents and photos came along with the medals etc. There was even a special seperate auction catalogue printed for only the Wisch-Group!

Now, a couple of friends who had the honor to visit Wisch in the 80ies and 90ies still told me later that he had the docs and photos for sure, but that they had never seen any medals at his home...

Might be the Wisch did not show those around, but only the photos, but might also be that the medals were added to increase sales volume. After all, all the medals sold way above market price at the time.
                                Great business!
