I´m re-starting my collection thread, due to the fact that in my previous thread all the photos were lost….so here is a glimpse of a very modest collection that started when I got my first WWII German lid as a kid……I could never really focus on one subject ….more like in certain armies during certain periods in history……..

I will slowly reload the photos that were lost….in a more orderly way…

Thanks for your comments my friends, I'm glad you liked them....as I said, it all started for me with a WWII German helmet , just loved the design, color decal etc, and then as a kid, started hearing war stories from my grandfather...and I was hooked.....but although just wanted to focus on WWII German lids..I just could not resist the medieval look of WWI warfare...the clash of the old tactics against the industrial revolution ....so here it is my WWI items.....













Due to the arrival of new items I had to separate the collection in tow rooms...so I moved all the WWI items so they are together and this is how it looks at the present time....

There is always something in our lives that triggers a hobby...for me this helmet was it.....it was at the house before I existed and just can´t remember when I first noticed it...I can say for sure this is the lid I´ll never part with. This lid was acquired by an uncle of mine in New York in the 50´s, my father wanted a WWII German Helmet for a long time, and loved the movie “The Star of Afrika” So his brother brought back this Tunis captured lid.



Unfortunately I played with it for a very long time when I was a kid and destroyed most of the liner and lost the chinstrap. Also banged it a little and lost some of the original paint. As a kid you just don’t realize what you are doing, yet it survived and I really take care of it now.....





the Lid is a LW DD reissue Q 64 with lot number 530 .



Also you can see the LW ghost decal and looks like the tri color shield was repainted over at some time probably by the veteran that got the lid.



The helmet has the inscription May 1943, Tunis (made by soldier who captured helmet).



You can see how some of the original paint came off from where the inscription is, yet you see the old rust that formed the letters..........





it has a early none reinforced M31 liner inscribed Schuberth-We, GMBH, Braunschweig 1937





It has one name sewn into the liner and another carved on the rear apron “Proschell”





This lid has a very special value to me
