A very interesting and unusual award group to Obfw Hugo Wolf of 5th Staffel KG55, not only did he qualify for the Beobachter (observer) badge but he also qualified for the Fallschirmjager (paratrooper) badge,
Hugo Wolf served with Kampfgruppe z.b.V.5 which was under the command of KG55 from mid 1942 to 1st of May 1943 where it was redesignated I Gruppe KG55, interestingly Hugo Wolf did not transfer to the new I Gruppe, but to 5th staffel of II Gruppe KG55.
Hugo Wolf received the Honour Goblet on the 8th Aug 1943 and awarded the German Cross in Gold on the 1st Oct 1944.
Hugo Wolf survived the war. all awards and cloth insignia are Hugo Wolfs and original to his fligerblouse.

              Hi Jim,

Very nice to see some of your KG55 items, of course as you know I don't have many left now

Here is my first contribution with Wolf's Ausweise. I will show more items later in the week when I get a chance. These were originally posted in the Fj.

              1) Luftwaffenbombenschützenschein - 1.11.1940, Große Kampffliegerschule 2.

              2) Luftwaffenbeobachterschein - 31.7.1942, Fliegerschule der Luftwaffe (S) 2.
14.10.42 re-designated Erg.Gruppe für Fallschirm Kampfbeobachter in Freiburg im Breisgau.

              3) Fliegendespersonal (Tarn) Ausweis - 16.10.1942, Fliegerhorstdienststelle Freiburg im Breisgau.

              4) Fallschirmschützenschein - 15.1.1943, Generalkommando XI Fliegerkorps.

What is interesting, not only was he a trained as a bomb aimer, observer and paratrooper but also written to the rear of the
Luftwaffenbeobachterschein, as a Fallschirmkampfbeobachter and suitable for Kettenführerflugzeuge!

              /Ian

A very rare and interesting unit pin, it's to the stab flight of II gruppe KG55 to commemorate the gruppes involvment in the Polish campagne 1939, it shows the Geschwaders crest which also happens to be the coat of arms of the town of Giessen where the Kampfgeschwader was formed. As the stab flight would only have a small number of aircraft and personnal, this pin is very rare indeed.

                          Hi Ian,
Thank you for posting your very impressive document groups to both Hugo Wolf and now Gerhard Dietrich. It's interesting that we both share items to two men from KG55.

Here is Obfw Gerhard Dietrich's German Cross in Gold and his medal bar, you you don't always see an airman with the west wall medal.

Where is that photo from? I have the original photos for his 200th and 400th mission but never seen the 300th!
