    Containers for U.S. grenade "beano"

    Hello

I opened a post on the U.S. card holders to various grenade and projectile used by the Americans and we can extend it to the Allied and Axis if people possess pictures.

I begin with a U.S. container not common at all for the rare T13 grenade called "Beano"
The tube is 211mm high by 92mm outer diameter

Inside cotton waste used for the calibration of "beano"

markings on the lid CONT MOD M106. II

A little explanation on the contents of the container, very interesting! (From anywhere)

"Developed in 1943, it was officially accepted in January 1944, the hand grenade (which explodes on impact thanks to that rocket T5 whose body is bakelite was developed for the OSS (Office of Strategic Services).
For handling, it is held with the safety cap on the fingers, the pin is removed and thrown the grenade.
It has a radius of 20 meters effective.

Although the T13 was shipped to Europe to be evaluated in the field, it is not clear that it was never used in combat, although there are unverified reports that it has been made A limited number of troops for the invasion of Normandy. "
The rocket T13 T5 (I note that the photos are taken from the net to illustrate the post and that the T13 is not for me)

Mon container est issu de parachutage pour le maquis bourguignon qui été assisté par des SAS. Cela prouve donc que la "beano" a été utilisé aussi par les forces de la résistance et pas uniquement en Normandie.
