    Hello Haplo,
The officer's tunic (upgraded from enlisted man's, of course) was initially dark olive green, but as you've noted, has been bleached by washing and exposure to strong sunlight. If the pocket pleats are lifted much of the original colour is still evident, and quite a contrast!
I generally do not collect officer's tunics but this one was just too nice to pass up on.
For those who are interested, I now have permission from the LRDG website to post the link -
    http://www.lrdg.co.nz/main.html
Take a look - very well set out, informative and growing...
    Regards,
    Mark

Thanks Mark for the link to the new site ,, Simply put " Amazing " I highly recommend clicking on Marks link, you will be stuck there for quite some time

as far as all these wonderful bleached officer tunics go
makes me think I should have gone to the trouble of getting one of my better ones out of those darn case's of mine for my P38 pics, never mind the old signals one on the back of the door still has it's uses ,,

Some great items guys, thus thread just gets better & better...

Mark G, the AKCT on your Art Officers tunic looks like it has been added post war ? From the photo it appears to be the later tan style ?

It's an olive bordered cufftitle, just not a good pic for colour.

                          Hi Mark T

On your white piped Officers tunic. It is probably an Inf Officers tunic that was used in Tunisia or Italy. Really like the wear including the officers insignia

If it is (or representing) a DAK piece then it is much more likely for a Flak unit (20mm & 88's) not the Inf. The only white piped units in the DAK were the Herr Flak Bn's. All the Inf were motorized and wore green piping. The 164th Lt Div did wear white but were not considered part of the DAK, the 164th was destroyed at Alamein.

                          Heia Safari !

Thanks Tim, I don't have any verifiable history with it (so won't mention what I've been told) although it did also come with a wonderfully worn AK (olive backed) cufftitle that appears to have been attached to the tunic at some point (I make no claims to it having been period applied)
I've been trying to find a set of white piped greatcoat straps for my 606Btn POW coat - but I'll settle for continental straps and call it 'supply issues..'!
