    Hi there!
The eagle looks to me post war remplaced, as is still visible the 'waved' shadow of the other eagle's wings... If the 'original' eagle' was cut off during the WWII , with the rest of the operatival life of the jacket, submit to the weather, use, washing etc.. the former shadow would have been deleted. That's true that all could be happened, also that after the eagle's changing, the jacket was stored... But, by my humble opinion, the eagle (original), was sewn after the WWII.

    Cheers!

Yes the eagle has been replaced, but there is no way anyone can say just by looking at it that was 100% done post war. The original eagle might have been damaged or the owner may have been a POW and had to remove the original eagle. In which case, yes it would have been replaced post war. I have a tunic that belonged to an ex POW and it had the eagle removed and replaced post war, I'm very happy with mine. Yours is all original, you shouldn't be too dissapointed in yours either.
      Regards Bruce

I'm with Bruce on this point. I'd rather have a POW tunic with replaced eagle over a 'mint' un-issued tunic any day of the week. (And I do.)
        Just my preference.

Considering how many of these have had eagles removed, I don't see a problem with a restored eagle. If you can find an original tunic eagle then it would probably be more authentic but Luftwaffe examples are harder to find than Heer tropical eagles, which are very common considering the prices being asked.
Yes Mark I do agree, a used tunic with a replaced eagle is much more interesting than a completely mint tunic to me.

            Thank you all my dear,

That's really nice to share all that points of view.

I think I will keep my tunic with this replaced eagle.
Moreover, I have a beautiful Solbuch of German soldier who fight with Fallshirmjager Regiment 1 in Italia. I have a card in this Soldbuch which explain that this soldier was POW in a British camp.

So, my tunic is in accordance with the Soldbuch... That's great.

I'm not at home now, but as soon as I have my tunic with me, I will took some pictures of the back side of breast eagle. I can't remember, but maybe we will see the marks of 1st eagle.

Anyway, THANK YOU ALL !!! you can of course continue to give me your different opinions.

            Sincerly yours,

            Chris

Here's a pic from a fellow tropical collector, NCO.
Definitely some very nice caps, especially that faded NCO in the centre.
Is it a Schlesiche Mutzenfabrik, a Lubstein or even possibly a Lago? All did make caps in tan so it's possibly one of the above. Would anybody else like to hazard a guess?
I'm leaning towards Lubstein but am probably wrong.

Take care and thank you for the pic NCO

The faded cap in the middle is a killer. The m34''s are nice as well. Jacques

This is an amazing tunic, I would for sure restore the eagle to it. Jacques

                          Nice caps.
Maybe Rheydt - Dresden for the faded example.

Yes, replaced eagle, the tan remnants of thread are still visible, but the eagle is sewn by hand along the side ..
I think shirt eagles were applied on tunics, although maybe not textbook, just like the majority of tunics having shirt shoulderstraps ..
The "original" triangle tunic eagle was on heavy fabric and the "original" shoulderstraps were heavy fabric also.
I've also seen shirt eagles cut from triangles and applied on tunics.
Especially the soldiers at Sud Front used a scala of eagles, many were (self) hand-made and looked rather funny.
Loads of pictures don't show any eagle at all (shortage ?), but some got a eagle at a later date one way or another.
Pics also show the use of Summer eagles.
Cap eagles sometimes were hand-made or the cap or pith helmet eagle was put on.
I'm talking about Luftwaffe here, think you don't see those things that much with Heer or am I wrong ?

Here's a light worn tunic with tunic straps and a re-applied tunic eagle which I like a lot.
